Be up to date and actively promoting the artists latest release/news

Not too text heavy- entertainment website

Clear house style which corresponds with videos, albums covers etc.. Feel like it belongs

Fast links to points of scale

Easy navigation to internal links, social media platforms and outside sites (3 click rule)

Maintain the mode of address throughout the whole website

Include pool quotes- reviews

Top tips- Do research and textual analysis of professional artists – make sure you understand the conventions of the genre and form 

On your home page, show an understanding of conventions by having headings/buttons for pages that won’t exist (eg: Merchandise)

Think about how you want to use your one linked page – could it include quite a lot of material?

Create an album cover and show an understanding of how people listen to music – physical copies? Download? Streaming? 

Show an understanding that the music video is not the main product but part of the package of the artist. It may be the main thing the artist is promoting now but maybe it’s a way to sell their tour?? 

 Include links to other platforms – social media etc. Maybe set up the social media pages. 

  Ensure there is ‘repetition and difference’ – similar aesthetic, style; difference in the need for extra content 

Think about what else you could add – lyric video? 30 second promo snippet of music video? ‘Behind the scenes’ (avoid Blooper reels unless it suits the image you want people to associate with the artist) 

Work on it as you go along – not after the music video but before, during and after. 

Take lots of photos and footage when filming. 

Think carefully about how you want the artist to be represented. Personal approach – feels like the artist is more connected to the fan – personal messages, charities or campaigns I am supporting etc ; management/superstar approach – so important that they clearly have a team who work for them!
